Website creation process
The process that you can expect during a website project is outlined below.
- Requirements and quotation: We meet with you at our studio, or by telephone, to discuss your website requirements. We will review any existing material, discuss the features you would like in your new website, and consider what will fit in your budget. After the meeting, we can send you a quotation.
- Quotation approval: If you would like to proceed with the project, send us an email to approve the quotation. We will then schedule your project and provide you with a timeline. We’ll also email an initial invoice.
- Initial materials: You will send us the initial project material—usually electronic logo file, any other designed material and photographs—as well as domain name details.
- Domain names: If it’s a new website we will register new domain name(s) for you and set up your new email address(es).
- Visual design: We will undertake the research and visual design phase, producing the concept design for your website. Once ready, we will meet with you to review the design.
- Design developments: We will make design developments based on your feedback and email you the final visual concept designs for your approval. We’ll also email a progress invoice.
- Website development: After the design is approved we will produce the website templates as semantic, standards compliant and accessible XHTML and CSS page templates. We’ll integrate the website with our CMS or build it as a static website (depending on option chosen).
- Final content: You then email us final, proof read copy as Word files and we will load the content. Or we will use sample text and you can attend a training session (CMS customers only) so that you can enter the final words.
- Final review: We will send you a preview link to your website for final review so that you can proof read the website and email us any corrections. Once we’ve done any final updates, we’ll discuss a launch date with you.
- Launch: We will launch the website. We’ll also email a final invoice plus hosting and CMS fees as necessary.
